Hello, beautiful humans!

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist in the states of Colorado and Kansas, and I have been practicing since 2013.

I really enjoy working with anxious folks and trauma survivors who struggle with people-pleasing and taking up space in their personal and professional lives. As a recovering people-pleaser, I know how tough it is to stand up for yourself. I come from a family line that struggles with anxiety and alcoholism, so I went to grad school to try to figure out how to solve those things. Turns out, that's not exactly how therapy works. I got so much more practice in the real world. I learned that we do everything for a reason, even if it doesn't make sense to us at the time-including using alcohol, drugs, self-harm, overeating, sex, gambling and other behaviors to change how we feel in the moment. I also learned that our body holds on to all of our experiences, and if we slow down long enough to listen, we can get incredible insight.

Therapy with me is a holistic experience where we work to reconnect the mind, body and spirit while also holding space for the systemic social and political issues that impact you.

My Values

Authenticity

I believe in the radical notion of showing up exactly as myself in the work that I do with clients. This means that I may choose to selectively self disclose as a way to disrupt the clinical/colonizer mindset of traditional psychotherapy—one that positions me as the expert of my clients lives, without having to be vulnerable in sharing some of my own “humanness.” I model messiness and making mistakes as a means of challenging a perfectionist mindset that can hold so many of us back.

Balance

Maybe it’s my Libra Rising, but the concept of balance has been foundational in the therapeutic work that I do. This world loves binaries, yet so many of my (and my clients’) lived experiences fall outside of a set binary. I love to explore what a sense of personal balance would look like for each of my clients, beyond the the tired conversations of “work/life” balance, using a holistic approach.

Choice

Offering choices is so important to me because many of my clients have experienced loss of personal autonomy through abuse, violence, coercion and manipulation. In therapy, I aim to create an environment that encourages you to regain that sense of personal autonomy and make empowered choices on your terms.
